FIFA Club World Cup 2025: Chelsea's possible route to final

The Premier League side begin their journey in the knockout phase today.

The Blues defeated ES Tunis 3-0 to secure a spot in the FIFA Club World Cup round of 16. We will now go over how the knockout phases operate and how Chelsea can get to the final.

After defeating LAFC and ES Tunis to advance as runners-up in Group D, Enzo Maresca’s team moved on to the next round of the premier global championship.

As the round of 16 is upon us today, we want to address some of the most important queries that the Blues supporters may have.

As we all know, the top two clubs from each of the eight pools advance to compete in the last-16 in a conventional bracket-style tournament after all group games are finished. Now, those who finished first in their respective group face the team that finished second in their respective groups in the round of 16.

There are four semi-final spots up for grabs, and the eight teams that win their last-16 matches advance to the quarterfinals. The 2025 Club World Cup winners will be determined by the final. This is how Chelsea’s path is developing.

Who will Chelsea face in the round of 16?

On Saturday, June 28, Chelsea will travel to Charlotte to play SL Benfica in the round of 16. The Bank of America Stadium will kick off at 4 p.m. local time, or 9 p.m. in the UK. For viewers in India, it’s on the next day at 1:30 am IST.

Who might play against Chelsea in the quarterfinal of the Club World Cup?

If the north Londoners get past Benfica, they will face either Palmeiras or Botafogo, both are Brazilian teams, in the quarterfinals. On Friday, July 4, that game would be played in Philadelphia, where they played their group stage games.

Who might Chelsea face in the semi-final of the Club World Cup?

If Chelsea get’s past any of the Brazilian team they might face in the quarter finals, they could end up facing any one of the following next – Al Hilal, Manchester City, Inter Milan and Fluminense.

On Tuesday, July 8, the semi-final will begin at 9 p.m. UK time and 4 p.m. local time at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Again for visitors in India, it will be the next day at 1:30 am IST.

When is the Club World Cup final and who could Chelsea face?

If the Blues reach this stage of the competition, it will be something to cherish in itself. The final could end up being one of the most heated battles. They could face any of the eight possible teams – PSG, Inter Miami, Flamengo, Bayern, Real Madrid, Juventus, Dortmund or Monterrey.

On Sunday, July 13, the final will be held at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium. The game kicks off at 3 p.m. in the US and 8 p.m. in the UK. For viewers in India, it’s on the next day at 12:30 a.m. IST.
